I just love this song, so I thought I'd write something about it. This song was just released a few days ago. It's going to be in the movie, The Greatest Showman. Zac Efron and Zendaya sing it. They're two of my favorite actors and actresses, so I was already pretty excited to listen to it. But then I listened to the lyrics too and fell in love. Here's the lyrics for the first verse and the chorus.
"You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
I know you want me
So don't keep saying our hands are tied
You claim it's not in the cards
But fate is pulling you miles away
And out of reach from me
But you're here in my heart
So who can stop me if I decide
That you're my destiny?
What if we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine
Nothing could keep us apart
You'd be the one I was meant to find
It's up to you, and it's up to me
No one can say what we get to be
So why don't we rewrite the stars?
Maybe the world could be ours
Tonight"
I love these lyrics because of the way Zac Efron's character is choosing Zendaya's character to love. In my family studies major, I have taken a lot of classes having to do with relationships and marriage. These classes have adamantly taught that there is no "one true love." You have to choose a person to be with and commit to them. There's not some outside force that will keep you with your "one true love." You constantly need to work at a relationship and decide if someone is going to be your destiny. This song captures that principle a little which drew me in. Also, I just love how catchy the song is and I love this actor and actress! So I thought I'd share. Here's a link to the song. Hope you enjoy!
