1. Response to Elder Bednar's "Flood the Earth"
The main take-away I got from this talk is that I can be a force for good on social media. Social media is not inherently evil or good in and of itself. It is a tool that we use. Elder Bednar wants us as members of the church to flood the earth in a positive manner. I am working on the balance of using social media to bless other's lives while not letting it take over my own life. There is moderation in all things. Social media use needs to be used to flood the earth, but not so much that it floods our lives and becomes our reality. We need to flood people's lives in person with gospel-living, not just online. Elder Bednar does a great job showing us the importance of posting positive things online to touch more people's lives, but helping us realize that that's not the only way we should touch people's lives. A tool can only be enhanced by the user. Thus, we need to enhance our lives offline so we can better enhance our ability to help others online. :)

I agree with what you said about how social media is not inherently evil. It's sobering though to think how Satan can use things like social media for bad.
ReplyDeleteI loved how you said that there is a moderation in all things and how social media should not flood our lives and become our reality. I think that more often than not social media has a greater impact on our lives than it should and we pay way more attention to it than we should. However, it can definitely be used as force for good! We just have to figure out how to do that.
